RECIPE | HOW TO MAKE GINGER & LEMON TONIC
A regular step to my weekly routine now includes making the delicious lemon & ginger tonic recipe I first discovered on Lydia Millen's blog. Since then, I've seen so many variations on this tonic recipe but for me the below recipe works best. You can enjoy this as a refreshing cordial with soda water and ice, or with hot water as a natural tea. I personally like the bitter lemon taste and zingy ginger so I also enjoy a shot of it first thing to kickstart my morning.
YOU WILL NEED:
- 3 lemons
- 100g fresh ginger
- 500ml water
METHOD:
Step 1 - Grate the ginger (no need to peel) into a pan.
Step 2 - Add the water.
Step 3 - Bring to the boil, then remove from heat and let sit for 45 minutes to an hour.
Step 4 - Add the juices of 3 lemons then sieve to remove the lemon pips and grated ginger.
Store in an air tight container in the fridge and enjoy! This lasts us around 5-7 days depending on how much we consume.
OPTIONAL EXTRA: Add honey to sweeten.
TOP TIP: If you have any excess ginger and you don't want it to go out of date, you can freeze it!
BONUS: Your kitchen will smell lovely and fresh making this!
